ABOUT

Dieter 2.jpg

Dieter was born in Germany and raised in Kitimat, B.C. He left Kitimat in his early 20's and moved to Victoria where he met his future wife Deb. Deb had been a lifelong resident of Kamloops and after a few years and two children later they relocated to Kamloops in 1989. Dieter and Deb had been together for over 40 years until Deb was tragically taken from us. Dieter has two adult children and two amazing granddaughters who love their Pop Pop.

Dieter has had a diverse work history, some industrial, but the lion's share has been in sales and management, primarily in the financial services industry. Dieter's passion for sustainability and food security led him, along with Deb, to purchase property in Westsyde which would become the future home of Thistle Farm, a successful and respected brand within the community.

Dieter has been active on many boards and associations over the years, many to do with food security and agriculture but also many that promote Kamloops both economically and recreationally (tourism). Dieter currently sits on the Venture Kamloops board, and is also the present chair of the Thompson Country Community Futures board.

Dieter has varied interests which include gardening (no surprise there), an avid and reasonably accomplished cook, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities, passionate supporter of  the arts, an enthusiastic sporting spectator, reading, but above all Dieter has a passionate love of people and meaningful conversation.

Plus he's an incorrigible punster.
